Your guide to a beautiful smile on your big day

Preparing for a wedding can be stressful and full of ups and downs. You want to look your best for your big day because these memories are going to be timeless.

Imagine your perfect outfit, perfect venue, beautiful weather and sunshine everywhere. Champagne glasses clinking and guests laughing, basking in the glory of your love. Your hair and make up is on point, your new husband’s tux looks amazing, you’re both smiling…..wait what’s that? Oh his discolored tooth, running your tongue against your own teeth noticing the chip that is still there from 2 Chirstmas’s ago chewing on candy cane. You are both trying not to smile too much so that your teeth are not captured in these timeless photos……nobody wants to be that person!

The first thing most people notice is your smile, so don’t let that get you down.

Don’t worry, we have got you covered with our handy tips;

How to make sure your smile is healthy, pain free and your breath is fresh

You want to make sure your breath is fresh as a daisy for your first kiss as a married couple. The best way to make sure of this is to visit your dentist at least 2 months before your wedding day for a comprehensive check up and a scale and polish. Your dentist can then pick up any treatment that is required and categorise it as urgent or non-urgent (ie to avoid tooth ache on or near your wedding day!). Brush twice a day and floss once a day religiously after your scale and polish.

Do you have less than 2 months till your wedding? Don’t worry – contact us NOW for a comprehensive exam with x-rays so we can make a plan that fits your schedule

Want a sparkly white smile that does not look fake?

Teeth whitening is becoming very common and there is a good reason for this. It is a simple procedure that elevates your smile easily. To have the greatest effect, choose an in-office whitening system such as Zoom. Your teeth can get up to 8 shades lighter in just one session. If you want a more subtle, controlled change then take-home whitening kits are ideal. You can noticeably see the difference and stop when you feel your teeth are light enough.

Your whitening treatment should be done by a dentist as they are best placed to assess your suitability for this. Any fillings or crowns you have will not be affected by the whitening solution so your dentist will be able to plan ahead for this rather than having some white teeth and some darker teeth in your smile. Also your dentist will be able to protect your gums and lips while using higher, more effective concentrations of whitening gels.

Keep lipstick off your teeth and on your lips

After applying lipstick, form an O with your mouth around your clean finger, and gently slide your finger straight out of your mouth. This step will remove any lip color remaining on your inner lips, keeping your teeth pearly white. Also, keep a straw handy so your lisptick does not smudge on drink glasses.

Smile away in confidence

Your smile will look gorgeous if it is worn confidently. Love your smile and show it off for guaranteed beautiful wedding pictures!
