Meet Shelley Chadwick
Dental Hygienist
After starting her career in 1997 as a dental assistant, Shelley realised she loved the close relationships that dentistry provided. “I felt a real desire to further my career with dental hygiene so I could continue helping patients gain and maintain overall oral health.”
Education & Professional Development
To prepare for her career, Shelley earned a Diploma in Dental Hygiene from the University of Otago in 2000. Over the last 2o-plus years as a dental hygienist, she has loved setting new learning goals each year and has attended numerous courses to further her career.
Shelley has also loved serving on the committee for the New Zealand Dental Hygiene Association and has enjoyed mentoring new graduates in their clinical skills and confidence.

The most rewarding aspect of being a dental hygienist is providing patients with confidence in a safe and supportive environment and empowering them to take control of their oral health.”
Shelley also finds it fulfilling to help patients gain and then maintain a disease-free mouth and help them understand how this goes hand in hand with their overall health and wellbeing. She feels it is important to make small gradual changes over long-term relationships.
An Active Family Life
Outside of work, Shelley enjoys spending time with her husband and two teenage children; anywhere outdoors is where she loves to be. “I have been a Howick local my whole life and absolutely love our area!
